Book Chats recognizes that your personal privacy is very important to you, so we want to disclose to you exactly what kind of information that we receive and collect when you use our website, Book Chats.net.

We do not sell or give your personal information with third parties.

Cookies

We do use collect cookies using WordPress Plugins, mostly for Google Analytics. This helps Book Chats understand how our visitors use our website and content. For example, it lets use see which of our posts receive the most traffic and how long visitors stay on a page.

Book Chats also use third-party affiliate links, which may use cookies. Book Chats is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, which also us to earn earn advertising fees by linking to the books and products of the people that we interview.

You can disable our cookies in your browser settings or managing the preferences of your security program. This may limit your ability to interact with the Book Chats site, including your ability to leave comments on our posts.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Contributing Authors on Book Chats

Book Chats has guest writers who contribute articles to the blog. If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Collection of Personal Information – Log Files

Like most other websites, Book Chats, collects and uses the data contained in log files. The information in the log files, includes your IP address, your Internet Service Provider, the browser you used to visit this site (such as Firefox, Chrome, or Safari), the time that you visited the site, and the pages that you visited. None of the information that we collect allows us to identify you.

We use this information to build our website to give you the best experience possible while visiting Book Chats.

Links to Other Websites and Embedded Content from Other Websites

We do include links to other pages on Book Chats. These include affiliate links to books and other products, author web pages, and social media. Book Chats is not responsible for the privacy policies and you should be aware that they may differ from our own, especially if they regularly send you updates of their privacy policies.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Giveaways

It is my hope that Book Chats will have giveaways, especially for the books of the authors that we interview. Any information collected during a giveaway, such as names and email adresses, will not be used for any other purpose than contact winners.

Newsletter

Book Chats has plans for a monthly newsletter to keep our listeners up to date on upcoming podcast guests. We will collect your name and email address for the newsletter, but your information will not be used for any other purpose than to deliver the newsletter.
